Salary: Cleaner - $19.41 (Prob.); $20.86 (Perm.) Bus Operator - $20.68 (Prob.); $22.87 (Perm.)
Primary Duties:
Cleaner Duties:
Responsible for performing early morning start up service, including checking oil level, coolant level, tire pressure, and completing a pre-trip inspection of all vehicles and general vehicle cleaning. Operates transit vehicles safely and efficiently. Transports passengers on designated routes and in charter service, plus other duties as required. Note: Shifts are posted for a period of two weeks during which time the position of Cleaner can be bid on by a Bus Operator and the Cleaner moved to the position of Bus Operator for the period of that shift posting.
Bus Operator Duties:
Responsible for operating buses to transport passengers on scheduled or unscheduled routes; inspecting and monitoring vehicle condition; possessing and maintaining appropriate driving licences and endorsements as required to operate City of Belleville vehicles; preparing various accident, incidents and vehicle condition reports as required; and performing maintenance work on, shelters, bus stops and property as required. Hours of work – Sundays to Saturdays- a range of shifts beginning 4:45 am – 11:00 pm (40 hours per week).
Requirements: Previous transit experience would be beneficial. A valid “B” Z-endorsed driver’s licence for the Province of Ontario is mandatory.
