The City of Belleville has several by-laws that regulate and control animals. Although
some basic information is provided below, you should contact us for specific information
relating to the keeping of any animal.

Kennel/Dog Licensing :

All dogs within the City of Belleville shall be licensed with the exception of a properly
certified guide dog.

Owner of a Kennel for purebred dogs duly registered in the registry of the CanadianKennel Club and holding  a current Kennel license	$60.00/yr
Male or FemaleDog [BEFORE March 31st] [AFTER March 31st]	$25.00/yr $32.50
Each Spayed or Neutered Dog * [BEFORE March 31st] [AFTER March 31st]	$20.00/yr $27.50
Senior Citizens over the age of 65qualify for reduced licensing fees:
First Male or Female Dog [BEFORE March 31st] [AFTER March 31st]	$15.00/yr $22.50
Each Spayed or Neutered Dog* [BEFORE March 31st] [AFTER March 31st]	$10.00/yr $15.00
Replacement fee for lost tag	$5.00
The license fee for dogs registered in accordance with the terms of By-law 99-82 after September 30th shall be fifty (50) percent of the fees specified above.
Poundage Fees: Impound Fee**	$25.00
**This fee is to be increased by $5.00 for each repeat offence to a maximum of $50.00. Special Provisions      1.   Veterinarian's Certificate is necessary to certify that dogs have            been spayed or neutered and immunized.      2.  The owner of a properly certified guide dog shall not be           required to obtain a licence for such a dog.        3.  The licence fee for dogs registered in accordance with the terms            of this by-law after September 30th shall be fifty percent (50%)
