BELLEVILLE – The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) and the City of Belleville celebrated the good work that is happening in the community thanks to OLG funding through the community contributions agreement. In 2017 more than $2.7 million was provided to the City of Belleville and City Council has carefully chosen specific projects that will benefit from this funding.
At a media event held on February 13, 2018 officials from OLG, the City of Belleville and Great Canadian Gaming – Shorelines Casino, came together to celebrate the contributions.
Mayor Taso Christopher stated, “It’s a great day for Belleville and we are so pleased to announce how the OLG community contribution will help the residents and businesses in Belleville live a better life. The projects funded by the OLG will improve the quality of life, safety, beauty and functionality of the community and we are so happy to have this opportunity.”
“Belleville continues to be a strategic location for OLG and it has provided us with a great opportunity to showcase what the gaming industry can mean to a community. The projects identified here today are great examples of what can be accomplished when the OLG and the community work together”, added Jake Pastore, Director Municipal and Community Relations, OLG.
Belleville City Council chose to fund all or part of the following projects using some of the $2.7 million in funding from OLG:
- New City and Hamlet Gateway Signage
- New portable entertainment stage

- Shave and Pave road upgrades
- Waterfront Trail Wi-Fi
